What is Bio-LNG?

Bio-LNG is a highly sustainable version of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with almost the exact same chemical makeup.

It is produced during the anaerobic digestion (AD) process, which breaks down organic matter (such as food or animal waste) in an oxygen-free tank to produce methane-rich biogas. This makes it a renewable fuel – which means it produces far fewer carbon emissions and pollutants.

Bio-LNG supply

Businesses already using LNG can switch on the benefits of Bio-LNG instantly – with no set up changes or downtime.

Flogas will continue to provide you with your normal LNG supply, but will inject the equivalent volume of Bio-LNG (sourced directly from an AD plant) back into the grid. You then receive a green gas certificate to verify your usage.

Bio-LNG has a much lower carbon footprint than other fossil fuels or biofuels and can reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 80% compared to diesel. It also emits negligible NOx and particulate matter (PM) ^[1]
